A Love Worthy of Legends: Chelsea & Eric's Viking-Inspired Wedding Adventure

Why have a basic wedding when you can have an epic one? Chelsea and Eric ditched the traditional and went full Viking for their big day at Barrel Oak Winery and Brewery in Delaplane, Virginia. Think hand-carved archways blessed by Odin’s ravens, a sword-sliced cake featuring the Norse tree of life, and a handfasting cord crafted by actual Viking festival friends. Their officiant brought the laughs, their 92-year-old grandma dropped wisdom (and witchy broomstick jokes), and the whole day felt like a wild, history-drenched love story. A wedding fit for a saga—minus the pillaging, plus a lot more happy tears.
Chelsea was a vision in her strapless lace gown, practically glowing as radiant as the Northern Lights, while Eric defied the stereotype of a filthy barbarian in his classic black tuxedo and red rose boutonniere. The ceremony was exceptionally special, thanks to live painter Brittany Branson, who masterfully captured the beautiful moment on canvas."
One of my favorite details from our wedding was the handmade arch by our friends from Klan Runda, whom we met at a Viking festival. The arch featured carvings of Odin's ravens, Huginn and Muninn, adding a meaningful touch. They also crafted our handfasting cord, infusing our celebration with personal and Viking-inspired elements through their exceptional craftsmanship. - Chelsea
The stone walls, wooden beams, and twinkling lights of the venue crafted a magical ambiance that evoked a Nordic fantasy, featuring less swordplay and more wine. The space was adorned with a color palette of burgundies, reds and enough greenery to rival a forest, courtesy of the floral experts at Growing Wild Floral Co.
Guests relished a harvest feast prepared by the culinary experts at Serendipity Catering & Design and the captivating dessert table, which showcased a custom cake by the baking talent at Home Baked by Eva.
Carl Elixir Studios expertly captured every tear, giggle, and duel, from the heartfelt "I dos" that brought everyone to tears to the dance floor antics that had guests dancing with abandon. White Pumpkin orchestrated the day with the precision of a jarl, while Select Event Group rentals added a level of class that would earn a nod of approval from royalty. Chelsea and Eric's wedding was an unforgettable celebration, leaving everyone with memories as sweet as wedding cake.
